(short for "human chorionic gonadotropin"), which is a hormone that is produced in pregnancy and is made by the developing embryo soon after conception.
You are most likely starting to feel very tired, and have the urge to urinate more frequently. You may also be experiencing mood swings, and possibly have tender breasts. These are all common

The blastocyst (meaning "sprout pouch") is now searching for a spot to settle down. The cells are rapidly dividing, and are split into two groups - those that form the placenta, and those that form the baby!
Towards the end of this week and into next week, a transvaginal ultrasound might show a gestational sac.
