This is approximately 3 weeks after conception, following the
pregnancy daily calendar
.
Mommy
You are most likely late for your period this week. This is a good thing if you’re planning a pregnancy! Most
home pregnancy tests
would show a positive result at this point.
At this stage of your pregnancy daily calendar, your hormone levels are skyrocketing, causing you to experience any number of
symptoms
. You may be tired, have tender/swollen breasts, be nauseous, and have to run to the bathroom more frequently! Keep in mind that you don’t necessarily have to feel all - or any - of these symptoms in order to be pregnant.
A crampy or full feeling in your uterus is normal.
If you are having many symptoms, and then suddenly lose them, contact your health care provider right away to make sure everything is ok.
Baby
The average length of the baby at this point is about 1.5 - 2.5 mm.
The baby’s heart will begin to beat this week!
A transvaginal
ultrasound
would show about 90% of the yolk sac, and would be able to differentiate between the head and the tail of the baby.
The neural folds begin to fuse, which is where all that folic acid you have been taking will benefit! This will further develop into the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, skin and hair).
Keep following along your pregnancy week by week calendar to stay informed of every stage of your - and your baby's - growth!
