Mommy
On week 24 of your pregnancy week by week schedule, your uterus should be about 1.5-2 inches above your navel. Your belly button may really be popping out by now! It may look a little stretched as well. It's totally normal - don't fret!
Some time between this week and
week 28
, your health care provider may order you to take a glucose tolerance test, which identifies if you have developed
gestational diabetes
.
Some time soon, your doctor may check your cervix to see if pre-term
labour
may be a possibilty.
For some reason, among all the
pregnancy symptoms
you may be experiencing, you may also notice itchy redness on the palms of your hands, and even on the soles of your feet. This could be a possible sign of
cholestasis
, which is a condition that affects the liver. It's important to get this checked out by a doctor in case the red itchiness is not just from dry, chapped skin.
Baby
Your baby is really putting on weight this week. He or she will add another 6 ounces as the body starts filling out in muscle, organs, tissue and bone mass. The baby weighs about 1 and 1/3 pounds, and is about 8.5 inches long!
In addition to the body filling out, the face will also fill out. Eyelashes, eyebrows and hair have grown, although they have no pigment yet.
Your pregnancy week by week brings about wondrous changes!
